A priest was shot after he continued praying when 10 robbers barged into his Alexandra, Johannesburg church, police said on Saturday.
The congregation were gathered for Friday night prayers, when the robbers came in, police spokesperson Captain Kay Makhubele said on Saturday.
The robbers ordered everyone to lie down, but the priest continued praying, he said.
“They shot him at him, but ended up only hitting his trousers. He continued praying,” he said.
The robbers took rings, watches and handbags from the congregation.
They also took a VW Polo, which belonged to one of the congregants.
No arrests have been made, Makhubele said, and police were appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
“We will continue searching for these suspects,” he said.
