In an interview with an Entertainment Firm, Leriq talks about producing at a very tender age, working with Burna Boy, Pukado, Sir Victor Uwaifo, 2Face and more.
How did you start production?
I was in secondary school when I started producing at the age of 14. i had a small computer in my room which I was using to make any popular songs for myself, at some point I was confident to produce musical beat for my friends, now we here in the industry smashing hit sounds.
How did you come to work with Burna Boy?
A friend of mine named Sleek introduced me to Burna Boy in 2010 when he returned from the UK, and we started production. Coincidentally we got into same label were I was made the official producer of Aristokrat Records
Your musical sounds, how did you acquire it?
Am not just a producer, am also an engineer, I take the whole time I need to produce unique sounds far different from other producers. I make unique sounds that get you always on the track.
Who is your favorite producer in the music industry?
Am not easily influenced, but I listen to Cobhams a lot, he is a talented producer.
You have worked with Pukado and Burna Boy, which of them were more comfortable to work with?
They are very creative, thou they have different mode of working, I can make beat from my comfort zone and send to Pukado via email to work on it, but I can do that with Burna Boy, he needs to be in the studio to hear the beat for him to record.
You have produced a lot of songs which of them was a massive hit for you?
Hmmmm……from Burna Boy my favourite song is ‘Na so e suppose to be’ on the life album while on Pukado’s EP album ‘I’M Cooling’
Are you restricted working outside your label?
No, am not, I have worked with a lot of artistes, 2face’s yet to release album ´The Ascension’ I produced two tracks ‘#Tag Aproko and ‘Confessions’. So am not restricted as far as I am delivering for my label.
There was news about Burna Boy been deported from the UK in 2010, what was it all about?
It was a rumor, media work indeed. There was a fight and somebody was stabbed where he was and he was accused by the culprit that he took part in the crime but he never did.
How would you rate Nigeria’s Music industry right now?
Nigeria Music Industry we are coming up at the moment, we are being noticed by the world. Although I don’t think we have done anything major as an industry compared to others. But it is a good start
So what are you presently working on?
Am working on a producer album which will drop pretty soon and I will have other projects am also working on. Just watch out for my great stuffs
How do you feel working with a whole a lot of Nigeria artiste?
It a pleasure, especially Sir Victor Uwaifo, I was a kid when my dad was telling me about his songs, and next couple of years I was Privileged to work with the legend. Its mind blowing thou.
Do you feel you are deprived of awards in the music industry in spite of your vibrant young age?
Am not really bothered about awards, as far as my sounds is reaching out to my audiences I feel it will come when it will; although where I came from I have had awards.
