Claims by Boko Haram that it has established a the has caliphate in a northeast town, Gwoza has been debunked by the Nigeria Army .
The Army refuted the claim in a statement it posted on its website.
Excerpts from the statement reads
“The sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Nigerian state is still intact. “Any group of terrorists laying claim to any portion of the country will not be allowed to get away with the expression of delusion and crime.”
It further said appropriate military operations to secure that area from the activities of “the bandits” were still ongoing.
Boko Haram released a video, Sunday in which it the outlawed group said it had formed an Islamic Caliphate in Northern Nigeria.
