Gunmen shouting Islamic slogans attacked a luxury hotel full of foreigners in Mali’s capital Bamako early on Friday morning, taking 170 people hostage, a senior security source and the hotel’s operator said.
This is even as Africa’s Richest man, Aliko Dangote, who was rumored to be one of the hostages, refuted the reports in a tweet via his Twitter handle @AlikoDangote.

Also Anthony Chiejina, spokesman of the multi-billion-dollar businessman, told The Cable, that not only was Dangote absent at the hotel, contrary to reports, he never even lodged in any Malian hotel throughout his visit.
Dangote left Mali yesterday and was in Lagos when the gunmen struck.
The gunmen attacked Radisson Blu Hotel in the earlier hours today and about 170 are being held hostage. The gunmen who shouted “Allahu Akbar” opened fire outside the hotel before storming it.
