A TRAGIC British teenager was killed in Jamaica after she fell when cleaning a mast on the vessel she was working on.
Bethany Smith, from Denbigshire in Wales, died from her injuries after the horror accident at the Errol Flynn Marina at around 2pm yesterday.
Police said the 18-year-old, described as a “ray of sunshine”, was cleaning the mast when the ropes become undone.
She suffered multiple injuries and died hours later at Port Antonio Hospital.
Bethany was brought up in a family keen on sailing and had previously helped with relief efforts on the Caribbean island of Dominica
A fundraising page has been set up to help her immediate family arrange the funeral and pay for travel as parents Dave and Sarah and brother Bryn all live in different countries.
It reads: “This family has suffered an unspeakable loss.
“This fund will help alleviate a portion of their financial stress, so they don’t have to worry about the costs of being together to lay Bethany to rest.
